How To Keep Otters Outboat

One year and more than a hundred entries

I have missed my hundredth blog post. Well, not directly missed, but I did not know that there is no 100 as I wrote it. On the other hand, there are also entries in this blog who are not really like this . The oldest of all, in German and in my other blog. That was not the first blog entry or the day that marks for me the birth of this blog. In May 2005, I put on a Blogger account. My husband wanted a website and I said, "But you need something that causes people to come back, a news page or a blog." He asked how to do that, I did not know, muttered something about Blogger, which was eventually free, went to my computer, opened a bank account, wrote something about the weather and my son, in which the name of the city, I live in, seemed, went back, opened another account for my husband, said: "Here is your account, here is your password and if you ever have time, I will show you how to publish new entries." That's it.

If you are interested, be blog is still there, even if his website now has its own page for News . (And where to post something is about as easy as to board Fort Knox. Man needs me to enter my list of passwords and three different user or account name to something. It works best with telephone support from the friend of ours, of the whole thing was programmed.) Oh, and the English part does not exist yet, I still have not translated, and then must then create our friend or new pages, as is always the one ...

But back to this blog, or rather this blog . There was a single entry in August 2005 and then silence. It could be thought as the pregnancy with the Blog imagine. Nine months of anticipation. Then I decided to switch to English, and that represents for me my first official entry: language switch. Since then I've found a lot of blogs that are not a bit boring. Honestly, I've found so many that I do not even read all if I in my life want to do something else than reading blogs. The first inkling of the community behind it I got when I found BlogHer . At the time this blog was called "swaddling clothes, and music." I started blogging enthusiastically in front of me and then stopped to think about who should read this well. Those of you know with their own blog, that all this makes a bit of work. And I wanted to read, otherwise I would have with paper and pencil can stay.

When I started to tell my friends about the blog to get a handful of readers, there was another problem: most people would not read anything in English. But most people who look at the BlogHer blogrolls would not read anything in German. Dilemma. I solved it in true Susan-style, to do one and not let the other. This twin to my English blog "diapers and music," his German Spiegel was born eight days later. Since the first of December, the diapers are gone from my life. I've renamed the blog. It is even not so easy to find something that works in German and English. My husband suggested "Reflections from a damaged life" before, which I really like it, but a bit too pessimistic for my taste. Even if it has something to do with Theodor W. Adorno . (This is the subtitle to his "Minima Moralia.") My life does not feel, however, particularly in damaged.

So I changed "kreative.mutter.denkt" to the name. Creativity and motherhood are the cornerstones of this blog and apparently I write constantly about what I think. I'm with the points but not more secure. Perhaps they are silly . Absurd. Do you think I should separate myself from them? It "creative mother thinks" call? Or "creative thinking mother '? Maybe.

Anyway, now it is one year. A year of blogging, a year when I go through my day and in my head all the time formulate blog entries, of which I write about every third well. For months I've felt alone with my blog. I had about 3 readers, or rather three "hits" per day and 95% of the people stayed for a second or less. I've been with this blog for more time than I ever thought possible. I translated each item except for one and thought about it every other month to give it up to my music's sake.
-..
have in recent months, increases readership, this is my English blog on Technocrati Ranking 147 303, and I feel like a member of a community. I have found friends like De and Liv and even took part in a wedding Blogger for social justice. I have found that my writing is more important than I thought and tried to NaNoWriMo . What I found friends who live a bit closer . So, I only have so much doubt also, blogging is still a social activity. I sit because of blogging is no longer in my house in the suburbs and feel lonely and cut off, instead I'm sitting in my house in the suburbs and feel part of a community of friends. Sometimes I even meet them in real life. Mostly not. One of the reasons is the fact that I can not just take a plane to fly halfway around the world. But today the world is coming through my little computer screen to me.

And all this I must conclude by saying that I've already started one of those things for which I have neither time nor energy. When I participated in NaNo, I thought to myself: "Why is there not something for songwriters?" Well, surprise, there are: FAWM . February Album Writing month. 14 songs in 28 days. I'm going to fail spectacularly, because I a) I have notified a week too late, b) written in my entire life, but three or four songs have, c) last week I did not even have time to translate my blog entry and d currently unique) sleep and rest a priority, because otherwise I simply fall over. Nevertheless, I signed up and last week wrote almost a ganezn song. I just have to slap some text on the Bridge ...
