sleep

If you go by how much I long for sleep lately, you would think I would have either a six-month-old baby in the house or sleeping. Neither is true. I'm not sure, but it could be that each of the last diary entry, uh, four years with the words "I'm so tired." begins. (Paper diary, not on-line thing, blog) Perhaps that is now in the place of my food obsession with the theme and feel self-fat-entered, who knows. Perhaps, and this thought comes to me just really for the first time, is the problem I have with sleep, from the same source as my previous eating disorder.

So. Sleep. Just thinking about it. forget the world around you, relax, dream, cuddle up under warm quilts. Happiness. So why do I never sleep enough? I could give my son the blame, it would be easy. And for years he was in fact the reason for my lack of sleep. But since around his second birthday he sleeps great with small problems only when he is sick. And for us completely unknown reason he wakes up regularly on Saturday one hour earlier than usual, but I've heard of children who wake up every day at half past six, I say nothing against him.

have to sleep with myself I actually have no problem. If I have the feeling that I have ever rolled up and down, fall asleep before I could, I informed my husband (the official back-and-Her tome in our family) that it only took about five minutes to get to I started snoring. (And yes, I snore frequently, I have a mold allergy, and therefore a permanent snotty nose.) No, if I'm in bed, everything is in order. I am the kind of sleeper who wakes up after a stormy night in the morning rested and when someone asks, "Was not that a terrible storm last night" replies, "What storm?" I come from a long line of people who sleep like rocks, my parents are known, that they wake up from nothing. I embed my head on the pillow and that's it until morning. If I had a particularly restless night, then I wake up and maybe look at the clock, or possibly go to the toilet. Then I go back and sleep on. This is a very useful gift. Particularly, if you have a sick child. Wake up, take care of the sick child, go back to bed, asleep. Ad infinitum. (Hey, I should have the answer to the question of the hidden talent in my last post. The ability to sleep under any circumstances.) Previously I was able to sleep even in the midst of people, light and noise, but this is one of the skills, I have lost with age.

the time when sleep was more precious was, of course, when my son was a little baby. When he was born, I thought to myself how amazing well I would cope but with the lack of sleep. I do not need much sleep and had great fear of ever- to be tired if I have a child. Well, the real lack of sleep came a little later. When I worked three days a week, yet he always nursed around the clock and then, when he was eight months old, was still teething, and he woke me up every hour to get me to use as a human pacifier. Very funny. At that point I was so tired that I dozed off when my husband was talking a break to catch his breath.

But that was long past, we dealt with the fact that dad pushed for two weeks on night duty with the Teeflasche, Mama, meanwhile, slept in the guest room and had only a 5 clock ran again in the morning (Silenced cultivation Hurrah!). That service would I can sleep enough. I did not, however. What I do is the following:

I'm tired all day and outside at regular intervals: ". I'm so tired, I'm so tired, but today I take a nap determined" Until it is time for naps and I think to do something important, how to read blogs. I will do it until my free time is over, spend the rest of the day with glassy eyes and tell about every half hour seriously: "But now I go to bed on time for sure!". After I took my son to bed very slowly, because I'm so tired, I go to my room, play a little piano and guitar, watch one episode "Buffy" or two, entertain me with my husband say, sincerely: "Of course I'm now in time to bed," rum Zappe, watch some stupid documentary about Playboy Bunnies or something am to 11 from the couch on Half an hour later go to bed and sleep until my alarm clock rings at a quarter to seven. And then all over again.

can tell you now what she is complaining because if I understand correctly, she sleeps all 7 1 / 2 hours. And nowadays everyone and his grandmother convinced that enough six hours and seven hours of sleep a lot are. I need the other hand, at least 8 1 / 2, better 9; hours of sleep for me too well and feel to have a functioning brain. And after all that I hear and read, I'm not alone. A friend recently said to me: "I do not know, I'm so tired and I sleep here every night, but six hours." Pff! I have a book (a book) "Outsmarting Female Fatigue: Eight Energizing Strategies for Lifelong Vitality" (Debra Waterhouse) which says that most women need an average of 8 1 / 2 hours of sleep. And that every 4-11 hours is normal. This does not mean that it is normal to sleep four hours, that is, it can be normal for you. But if you're tired, bad mood, always hungry and forgetful and regularly fall asleep in front of the TV, then maybe you need more sleep. And perhaps you are someone who takes 11 hours a day. Have you ever thought about it? Very inconvenient, but you can not help it. If you are not sleeping enough, you're tired.

exactly what I try to teach my son. If you're tired, you can eat as much as you want, it does not help. Only sleep helps. Since I have a child, I know the way, why people over eat when they are tired. Tired babies are breastfed to sleep. can society, cuddling, eating and sleep better so you also food here is so good for everything at once. As it about a year old, he has sometimes tried literally to eat in the bedroom. Nodded, chewing one. Enormous amounts of food stuffed in its little mouth. Since then I have seen at once, why I eat constantly when I'm tired. And then I eat at such times and still like more sugar, because you then additionally getting that sugar rush.

I'm a bit older than one year, I should have known better. I know better, I do not bare. So I give myself a sticker for every night when I'm in bed before eleven. For the past three years. Three years! I feel a bit silly. Uh, not just a bit. I invented a few tricks. I put make-up from me and my cream one, when I took my son to bed. I put on my pajamas before I check my show. I programmed my PDA so that it beeps when I go to bed must. I have asked my husband to remind me to please remember that it is time. And for every night when I am triumphantly crawled into bed before eleven, there are two, where I only stayed a little longer and then went to bed half an hour later. Or two hours.

I'm afraid I must clarify my priorities sometimes. Sleep. Is. Very. Important.

Or as I always tell my son: If you are tired, also makes the games not fun.

lot, I invite you to a round of afternoon naps.
